The Montauk Group Acting Company now has a Theater Space in New York City.

Gary Swanson and The Montauk Group have now secured The Company Space   
on 314 W. 54th St. as our new addition to the home base theater in The Hamptons.

We have taken a full partnership in the New York City studio theater, allowing more days and nights of classes, workshops, scene nights and affordable rehearsal space. Those who are in the Montauk Group will be given special consideration with lower rates for rehearsals in accordance with membership to The Montauk Group. This Studio will also be available as an outside rental space for those interested in an inexpensive rehearsal place or for outside classes.

This new acquisition and commitment of The Montauk Group commences what will soon become a formidable acting company, moving easily from the stage to film locations. In addition, we are now in communication with Ovation TV and several show runners from other cable TV shows regarding the Montauk Group Summer program. During the summer, when we are not as active in New York City, Gary’s home in Montauk will become immediately active for workshops and the development of theater and film projects.

Starting in January 2012 we will not only be holding classes in acting, our expansion will include classes in writing, directing, voice, and production.

This single, one-of-a-kind introductory evening with Artistic Director Gary Swanson will be free for those interested in learning about this process we call “Acting”:  Sensory work, improvisation, exercises, script analysis and the integration of all these elements.

Free for those who want to know more about the future Montauk Group classes, the content, the expectations and how they will be conducted.

Free for those with intense desire, who believe they will be committed to work hard in the theater, to learn and grow as actors.

Free to those who are willing to risk.

For those who do not have those qualities and emotions and still want to attend, you will be free to pay what you want…

Classes for new students are now being scheduled and will be announced on the Free Thursday night class on November 10th then posted on the web, Facebook and in emails.

The only requirement for November 10th:    One time Free class will be to contact gary@garyswanson.org and confirm you will be there. Please do not respond unless you are willing to commit to that evening…

If you have been a former student and want to continue, you are eligible for the following offer:
November – December, Gary’s Thursday night classes will be a low rate of $45 per class, one class at a time. If paid in full through the remainder of November, classes will be a low $40 a class.
The same payment breakdown will apply for December classes.
(*Dec. 1 class will be scheduled for Saturday, December 3 (10AM – 2PM).

Gary has been working as an actor with one of America’s great playwrights, Lyle Kessler on his new play.  Gary will be in rehearsal with Lyle on that evening in preparation for the mounting of a scene from the play at the Actors Studio session on the morning of Friday, December 2nd.)

The Montauk Group is continuing the struggle to create a better world by inviting true artists do what Ilia Kazan and Lee Strasberg did for past generations. They taught, gave back and passed the baton to those destined to break new ground for the future artists of the world. I have invited successful directors, producers, writers, actors, casting agents and musicians to participate through out the winter and into the spring. These artists have become leaders in the field. All are invited to come to "The Artists Salon" with like-minded artists who would rather learn how to dig for gold in a stream than drink beer on a Saturday sports bar while yelling at a flat screen HD TV.
